Do You really need a wedding film?

For some couples, wedding films can be a tempting place to save when it comes to your budget. According to one survey, 98% of brides who did not hire a wedding videographer regretted their decision. There’s a reason for such a high number. Almost everything from your wedding day will only be used for that day. Food, dress, flowers, cake, venue, DJ, makeup; all of it is very important but will only last for the day.

The pictures and video help preserve all of those special memories for years to come. So you might be thinking “But we already have a photographer. Isn’t that enough?” I can answer this through my own experience with having my wedding photographed and filmed.

While a photographer is definitely essential and I cherish my wedding photos deeply, there are things that they cannot convey. Only with a video can I relisten to my wife’s vows. By watching it I’m reminded of my brother’s speech from that day. I get to see the full emotion on my father-in-law’s face as he sees his daughter in her wedding dress. I’m able to feel the tears that I shed while dancing with my mother. And so much more. A video can capture emotion like no other medium can and getting to listen to all of the words said on that day is priceless.

On top of getting to rewatch the film ourselves, I cannot wait to show it to my kids and grandkids one day. I would kill for the ability to watch a short film from my parents’ wedding day. A time capsule of one of the happiest times of your life is something that deserves preservation.
